Who are SOSH and STS?
Here in Fort Collins, two community groups formed to express the strong citizen opposition to the CSU on-campus stadium project.
Numerous individuals have also worked to call attention to the many adverse financial and social impacts that would result from construction.
Hundreds of opposition opinion pieces, letters to the editor and on-line comments have been published, and many formal letters were sent to Dr. Tony Frank, members of the CSU Board of Governors, Governor Hickenlooper and our legislative representatives, pleading for the project to be investigated or stopped.

Save Our Stadium Hughes (SOSH) was formed by Fort Collins residents in 2012 when the project was announced. The group conducted a petition drive which collected over 10,000 signatures opposing the project in 2012 and then paid for a statistically scientific survey of city residents in 2014.
The survey showed that more than 60% of Fort Collins residents were opposed to the on-campus stadium! Members of SOSH have written articles and papers demonstrating the erroneous assumptions and deceptive arguments made by CSU administration to justify the project. Stop The Stadium (STS)
The purpose of this group is to prevent the construction of a new On Campus Stadium at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. The focus will be Direct Action and Political Action to stop the stadium. The direct action will include publicity, networking, and mobilization of the overwhelming majority of Fort Collins area residents who oppose the On Campus Stadium. The political action will be at the local and state levels, including work with the state legislature and Fort Collins City Council. This is a grassroots effort, intended to bring diverse people together for a common purpose. Many people who oppose the stadium have worked together and know each other. Many others have not connected with each other. This is a special opportunity to bring people together and start to build an effective communication network. Residents have seen that CSU has been unresponsive to the many valid concerns of city residents, faculty and students. We believe that the project should be stopped immediately on the grounds of poor fiduciary responsibility. |
